To fully understand the Bible Project agenda a careful student needs to listen to the Bible Project videos, download subsequent supplemental materials, and pay close attention to the teachings and values of their contributors and consultants. The following citations provide good starting points.
Bible Project Participants, Influencers, and their Stated Goals
These men are lovable, affable, genuinely sincere and true lovers of the scriptures. This is why they fit so well in our 10/90 segment. It is our purpose to show that these men have been deceived by a parallel mindset, not to degrade their characters or sincerity.
Tim Mackie is the heart and soul of the Bible Project. He is best understood by his own statements. Consider his recent interview on Nate Ritter’s “Almost Heretical” site.
https://almostheretical.com/
A Multnomah graduate, Tim is a part time professor at Western Seminary in Portland. As always, it’s best to go to the source by visiting Tim’s own site. Though the site is under construction, his list of recommended authors should terrify any serious Bible student.

Jon Collins, also a Multnomah grad, has provided much of the creative expertise for the Bible project. He is a key player and contributor. Jon’s vocabulary and rhetoric is representative of the Postmodern context placing strong emphasis on story, metaphor, and experience.

Zechariah Zenka is a lesser cited but verified contributor to the BP. His website, “Reading Scripture Through Fresh and Ancient Eyes,” and his own preaching and teaching place him squarely in the same mindset as the rest of the Bible Project Team.

Michael Heiser weighs heavily into the Bible Project as a script consultant. To understand the Bible Project, one must understand Heiser. Heiser, a scholar of all things ancient, is best known as a leading luminary in the Logos Bible Software world. Because he has been embedding his altered perspectives into his own Hebrew language studies for years he passes as highly authoritative. The Net Bible, for example, quotes him freely. His unorthodox worldview may be best observed in his Unseen Realm. It is important to know that any references to the Bible Project Team (BPT) in this study, include Heiser, due to his heavy consulting impact on the material (see video citations), especially with respect to his Divine Council worldview. In a word, the BP is the voice of Heiser.

For a full, biblically sound treatment of Heiser’s Unseen Realm we strongly recommend Gary Gilley’s critique.

N.T. Wright. While Heiser certainly articulates the “ancient” side of the BP worldview, it is this pastor’s personal opinion that the BPT has been heavily influenced by the writings of N.T. Wright, regarding its Pauline views - as he is alluded to as being an influencer. As an aside, Phil Johnson treats Wright’s views (from a Reformed perspective) on Ligonier.org. We recommend his article for perspective on Wright.

A Note About Our Sourcing.
The primary sources in this material are from the Bible Project web site and its associated videos and study guides. This material is freely available to all. We are also indebted to Gary Gilley, as cited earlier, for his overview of Heiser’s Unseen Realm (Amazon)
Bible Project images found in this material or subsequent media presentations are used by permission and are readily accessible.
Please keep in mind that internet citations are notoriously plagued by dead links. The researcher will want to follow the links referred to in this study and make appropriate notations and downloads.

The Bible Project in Less Than a Minute
If the Bible Project is anything, it is consistent with its first principle, an errant brand of free agency for all of God’s created beings. God cannot sovereignly control what He has freed. This free authority, relinquished to His creatures, requires a whole new paradigm in order to explain the interactions between God and all His “free agent” creatures, both in heaven and earth. In the end, this fleshes out to an Eden to Eden dominionism. To arrive at its conclusions, the BP has tainted every conservative doctrine in the Word of God, including the doctrine of God, the doctrine of Christ, the doctrine of sin and judgment, the doctrine of salvation, and the configuration of all God’s created beings. In the BP worldview, God overcomes the rebellion of His free agent creatures through the sacrificial love of Christ, but their “free agency” remains forever. In order to convert the listener, the BP uses well refined Postmodern techniques and devices.
