A note from Jim:
The Bible tells us that in the last days many will come in order to lead people away from God's truth. The Bible, alone should be our standard for judging between truth and error. (Read 2 Timothy 3 for a great example of what the Bible is saying.)
This site is dedicated, on the one hand, to helping people know that the Bible can be understood when we simply take it at its word.
We have made every effort to clarify what folks from various backgrounds are saying and we would not want to misrepresent anyone.
At the same time, this site this site is biased in favor of what the Bible states simply and clearly.
We hope it will help.
Please remember, we are available to discuss any of these matters. Feel free to contact us!
Too busy to spend time on this site right now? Just take a few seconds to read our notes below.
Here's the Good News! Salvation does not depend on what you do!
WHAT GOD DOES NOT REQUIRE! God never demands that we approach Him through a church or any other group! If you are involved with a group that teaches you must be saved through them - get out of there as quickly as you can! And, by the way, you can't "clean up your act" in order to get saved. That will never happen!
WHAT GOD DOES REQUIRE! Salvation always depends on Who you know!
And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:29-32 NKJV
Understand who God is.
If you have very little understanding to speak of, watch this video for starters. It will be a very great help. Two Worshipers - by Jim Steel (the author of this site.)
Understand who Jesus Christ is.
Find out for yourself from the Bible. If you have no understanding to speak of, take the time to read John's Gospel in the New Testament section of your Bible. Here are a few things you will learn. Be sure to read at least four chapters. Here are just a few things you will learn:
Pay especially close attention to these verses:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18 KJV
Understand a few things the Bible is very clear about:
You do not have to work to be saved. Ephesians 2:8-9
You do not have to join a church to be saved. John 1:12-13
You do not have to be baptized to be saved. (It is not included in the gospel - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
Simply accept by faith what God has done for you when Jesus Christ died, was buried, and raised again! That's all. Thank the Lord Jesus for dying to take away your sin and let Him know you have placed all your hope on what Jesus Christ has done for you!
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Read all of 1 Corinthians 15:3-41.
Finally: Understand some things about yourself.
Don't follow the yellow brick road. Most people will tell you to believe in Jesus and hope that your good works will outweigh the bad.
Understand that you have sinned and that your sins have separated you from your God.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Rom 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom 6:23
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." Acts 17:30-31
Salvation is not an option - it is God's absolute requirement. Christ shed His blood, died, and was raised again to give you this free gift. Simply receive Him by faith!
