Five Things You Should Know About the Creation
By A. Kruse & R. Braun
1.) Who created the heavens and the earth?
The earth was created by God (Hebrew = Elohim.) However, by
saying that God or Elohim created all things, we are also stating
that all three persons of the trinity or the godhead
had a part in the creation. The reason for this is the name Elohim.
The Hebrew Elohim is used exclusively with a plural ending,
something which would be expected if the godhead consisted of more
than one person. A good example can be found in the first part of
Genesis 1: 26a, “And God said, Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness…”
More importantly we can see that the Son in eternity past existed
with the Father and, like the Father, had an important role to play
in the creation of the cosmos and of the whole earth, including
everything which inhabits it. Colossians 1:15-16 says when speaking
of the Son: “Who is the image of the invisible God; the firstborn
of every creature (see the eternality of Christ). For by him were
all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for
him” Similarly in John 1:1-3 Paul begins his letter by
proclaiming the Deity of Christ, His eternal existence, and His
creative power. John refers to Christ as the Word, and
states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made
that was made.” Since Scripture declares over and over that the
Son was with the Father in eternity past, and since the trinity
works together in conjunction with itself, we must conclude that the
Son had a huge part in the plan of creation and execution of it.
John 1:10; Acts 17:24; Romans 1:20; Ephesians 3:9b; Hebrews 1:2.
2.) How the earth was created.
Earth was created in seven literal days:
1st
day ~ Genesis 1:3-5/God separated the light from the darkness.
2nd
day ~ Genesis 1:6-8/ God vapor above (canopy), water below (ocean,
lakes, etc.).
3rd
day ~ Genesis 1:9-13 / God separated land and sea, created plant
life.
4th
day ~ Genesis 1:14-19 / God created the sun, moon, and stars.
5th
day ~ Genesis 1:20-23 / God created birds and sea creatures .
6th
day ~ Genesis 1:24-31 / God created all the land abiding creatures,
and man and woman.
7th
day ~ Genesis 2:1,2 / God ended His work and rested.

3.) How the earth’s existence evidences the existence of its
Creator.
From the mighty power of the oceans to the intricate design of the
flower, the earth proclaims an intelligent designer. Romans 1: 20
lends support to this fact, “For the invisible things of him from
the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the
things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that
they are without excuse.” Man arrogantly states over and over
that there is no God, yet the creation even testifies of one. Each
man and woman who has looked out on the world and has seen a tree or
even a blade of grass has no excuse for rejecting the God who
created it all.
4.) How the existence of man evidences the presence of its Creator.
Contrary to popular belief Man did not evolve from pond scum, nor
did man descend from an ape-like mammal. Man was made in the image
of God. Genesis 1:26 states, “And God said, let Us make man in
our image, after our likeness…” And again in Geneses 1:27,
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him…” When we say that God created man to be in His image we are
speaking of the nature of man, not the physical aspects of man. God
is not made of flesh and bone as we are, he is a Spirit (John
4:24-God is Spirit). Because we are made in God’s image, and because
we have an eternal soul, we are distinct from animals. Because we
were created in His image, we possess some of His characteristics
such as love, morality etc., if even on a much smaller scale.
You can check out a few more references regarding man being made in
the image of God. 1 Corinthians 11:7; Genesis 9:6.In Psalm 139:14
David proclaims, “I will praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made; marvelous are your works and that my soul knows
very well”.
5.) Man was created for God’s glory.
Man was placed on this earth is to glorify God. That is the sole
reason for our creation. The man who does not know Christ as Savior
may see this as this unfair or arrogant, but for those who love
Christ, it is only logical that we give all praise and glory to God
who created us. 1 Corinthians 6:10, “For ye are bought with a
price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which
are Gods”. He created us, and cares for us! He sent His only
Son Jesus Christ to die for us (John 3:16). He was sent to die for
us, the very ones who have who rejected Christ and His plan. We are
to glorify Him and give all our praise to Him! (Romans 15:6) This
should be our natural response after all He has done for us. Mat
5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
